    <title>Important Cyclescheme Changes</title>
<description>Cyclescheme has changed the way it works at the end of your hire period..
Cyclescheme will contact employees detailing 3 options.

We think the most attractive option for employees is to pay a small, refundable deposit (3% or 7% of the certificate value*) and continue to use the bicycle for up to 36 months.

At the end of this period, Cyclescheme refund the deposit if the employee does not wish to keep the bicycle. No further action or payment is required if they wish to keep the bicycle.

    <title>Electric Bike Test Day 2011</title>
<description>For one day only Petersfield Cycles are giving the public a chance to test ride electric bikes from the new 2011 Raleigh ebike range. The ‘test day’ will take place in Petersfield Town Square commencing at 10am on Thursday 21st April running throughout the day. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to purchase an electric bike to actually take one out for a ride to see just how god they are! Even if you are not in the market for an electric bike it may still be worth popping down just to have a go and see what all the fuss is about.

<title>eBike test day proved to be a success!</title>
<description>Petersfield Cycles Electric Bike Test Day Report

The electric bike test day organised by Petersfield Cycles on Thursday in the town square proved to be a massive success. Manager Martin Brown said ‘We set up the day to give local people the chance to try the new eBikes and to give people the opportunity to try something different and get feedback from it. We were nervous as to how it would go, if people would turn up and most of all if the public would actually try the bikes.

It turned out to be much better that originally anticipated with people arriving from all over the south not just from Petersfield. We had a mix of different people throughout the day; some were just passing by and having a go whereas some were already in the market for an electric bike and had travelled from all over just to have a go and see the bikes in the flesh.
In fact for most of the day it wasn’t a case of getting people to try the eBikes it was more the case of not having enough eBikes for people to try! We had eight models for test and across all the models we sat more than two hundred people on the eBikes through the course of the day. Many people were very surprised at how well the bikes actually performed and every person who took a bike out came back with a smile on their face and for most the word was ‘wow – that was not what I expected’ while for some of the older generation the words were ‘it made me feel 30 years younger!’ Across the board everyone was very impressed and people definitely went away with good impressions.

A big thanks to Lloyd Clarkson who travelled from Nottingham at the crack of dawn to join us on the day, he was brilliant in supplying the bikes for demo and being there to provide any technical knowledge needed by the public. Lloyd quoted ‘The test day at Petersfield was one of the more eventful test days I have done, it turned out to be a great day and was made better by some of the friendly locals to the town. It was a good atmosphere all round’.

Martin Brown added ‘with sales on the day and many more follow-ups to come it proved to be a success. With some of the sales coming from passers by who had never even thought of buying an eBike before! In fact we didn’t even anticipate any sales we just wanted people to try them out. With this in mind we will be performing another very similar day however in Medstead this time, so anyone who could not make it down previously will be given a second chance to come and see what all the fuss is about. It will be taking place on Saturday 14th May, 11am - 1pm in the Doctors Surgery Car Park, Lymington Bottom Road, Medstead GU34 5EW

Alternatively please come and visit us in the shop situated on Dragon Street for more details.

A big thanks to everyone who made it one the day!</description>

    <title>2nd eBike Test Day!</title>
<description>Petersfield Cycles &amp; CPRE Hampshire Team Up To Launch Electric Bike Project
This is a second chance for anyone who could attend our last event in Petersfield town centre in April, to view the show report click here

The Campaign to Protect Rural England Hampshire (CPRE) is working with Medstead and Four Marks communities to pilot a sustainable transport project, with the aim of demonstrating new ways to tackle rural transport issues, increasing cycling and trailling the use of electric bicycles, or ebikes.
Increasing traffic on rural roads leads to more pollution, congestion and adversely affects the tranquility of the countryside. Medstead&apos;s Parish Plan highlighted the need to take actions to tackle traffic issues and to encourage more sustainable transport.

Martin Brown, manager at Petersfield Cycles says ‘This is an exciting time in the electric bike world, with the technology developing fast the ebike market has come on so far over the last couple of years, its growing at a huge rate. With over 40,000 of these models sold throughout Europe each year it seems like a no brainer to cater for this ever growing market. The technology has been around long enough now that its tried and tested and the newer models are very reliable. Electric bikes are many things to many people. Some want to extend a commute or arrive less sweaty, and other a helping hand on the hills, when transporting children, or to keep up with fitter riding companions. For others less able, an electric bike can be an empowering tool for independent mobility. Whilst some just like the fun factor!’
As well as having many of the latest ebikes available for test riding, we also have Lloyd Clarkson on hand to offer any technical advice. Lloyd has been in this market for years developing ebikes throughout Europe, and he is now responsible for the whole Raleigh ebikes sector in the UK.

CPRE England transport campaigner Ralph Smyth will attend a launch event on Saturday, 14th May, 2011 at Mansfield Park Surgery, Lymington Bottom Road, Medstead from 11.00am to 1.00pm, when there will be a full demonstration of the ebikes. There will be three ebikes available in the community for three months. The idea is volunteers will use an ebike for a week each, recording their use and committing to look after the bike, removing the battery when parked, and to pass it on to the next volunteer user.

An ebike looks and feels much like a normal bike, but with a battery to provide power assistance when you head uphill, inevitable when cycling around Medstead, the highest settlement in Hampshire. So, if you have thought about cycling again, but were put off by the steep hills around the village, this free trial is an opportunity not to be missed.
Also on offer will be twelve normal pedal bikes and some informal training, for those who may not have been on a bike for a while! It is hoped these will be stored in the village for communal use in the summer months.

    Camilla Swiderska, CPRE Hampshire, said: &quot;We are working towards a more sustainable future for the English countryside. Increasing traffic on country roads leads to more pollution, congestion and adversely affects the tranquility of the countryside. We must therefore support all forms of alternative transport as much as we can, including bus, rail, walking and cycling.&quot;

If you would like to volunteer for a week with a bike, please contact Camilla Swiderska, CPRE Hampshire, email camilla@swiderska.ndo.co.uk or telephone 01730 827865, by mid-April.

    <title>2nd eBike Test Day Report</title>
<description>The launch of an Ebike trial organised by the Campaign to Protect Rural
England&apos;s Hampshire group went really well on Saturday.

Yes that&apos;s right, you did see us on BBC news, in case you missed it to view the report / video visit www.ebikeshop.co.uk

It was held in the Doctor&apos;s surgery car-park, Lymington Bottom, Medstead and attracted around 50 people of all ages, with up to 30 enjoying a trial ride on the Ebikes. Around 50 people attended on Saturday morning, with about 30 taking the chance to have a try at the Ebikes
Medtead eBike test day - Saturday 14th May 2011

E-bikeshop.co.uk (director, Martin Brown) lent all of the bikes
for the day, and are loaning Ebikes for the 3 month pilot scheme in Medstead
    and Fourmarks.

Martin and his colleagues provided technical assistance to
teach people about how the Ebikes worked, before letting them have a ride
around the car-park and village lanes.

The project is full, with over 30 having signed up to use an Ebike for a week or longer during the summer. Many of those interested are keen to use the Ebikes around the village and to commute to and from Alton. Some models will go for up to 50 miles on one battery charge.

BBC South Today attended, with presenter Laura Trant interviewing Camilla
Swiderska for CPRE Hampshire; and receiving a lesson about how the bikes
work from Martin Brown. Ralph Smyth, senior transport campaigner from CPRE
    was also in attendance.
